Hi, I'm Dhenu, a product designer.

I learn by doing — taking apps apart, redesigning them, and trying to understand what makes something genuinely work for the person using it. Less about making things just look nice, more about why a choice is the right one.

About

I'm a product designer with a computer science background. The CS side means I think in systems; the design side means I pay attention to how something feels to use, not just whether it works.

I learn fastest by building — redesigning a real app, taking feedback that wasn't always easy to hear, and reworking it until it got sharper. That's the kind of work I want to keep doing.

How I work

Roughly how I work through a project.

01

Understand

Figure out who's using it, what they actually need, and where the current version trips them up.

02

Design

Sketch, wireframe, then build it out in Figma — trying to make each choice for a reason I can explain.

03

Refine

Get feedback, find what isn't working, and rework it. Usually more than once.

Dandy — a redesign I did on my own

A nine-screen redesign of a handyman app — the kind where trust matters most, because you're booking a stranger to come to your home. I worked inside the real brand and got feedback from inside the studio.

Redesigning Dandy

Dandy is a real handyman app — the kind where you're letting a stranger into your home, so the whole thing rests on trust. I redesigned it across nine screens, taking the original app through a first pass and into a refined v1.1, with feedback from inside the studio along the way.

01 — The setup

A product that worked, but made you think too hard.

v1 was functional, but it asked the user to do too much of the work — it led with options instead of leading with confidence. For an app whose entire business depends on people feeling safe enough to book a stranger, that's the exact thing that matters most. My goal: deepen what already worked instead of blowing it up.

02 — The feedback

Then I got notes I didn't love hearing.

Someone inside the studio looked at my redesign and gave it to me straight: keep the brand, drop the search bar, and don't start over — just make what's already there better. My first reaction was to get a little defensive, because I liked my version. But once I actually sat with it, the notes were right. What I took away wasn't a Figma trick — it was learning to use feedback instead of arguing with it.

Keep the brand

Navy, cream and pink are Dandy's identity. Lose them and you lose recognition — and trust — with it.

Cut the search bar

It pulled focus and made the user do work the app should be doing for them.

Deepen, don't restart

The move wasn't a brand-new app. It was making the existing one sharper and more sure of itself.

03 — What I changed

What changed, and the thinking behind it.

Cut search
Fewer competing choices, so the primary action leads — the app guides instead of interrogates.Hick's Law
Regrouped the home screen
Related elements grouped so the screen scans in one pass instead of line by line.Gestalt
Anchored the key action
Made the most important element the clear visual anchor, so the eye lands where it should.Von Restorff
Designed the ending
Paid attention to how each flow closes — the end is what people remember most.Peak-End
Held the brand
Stayed inside navy, cream and pink — proof the product could feel far better without losing what users recognise.
04 — Before & after

The screens got better. But the thing I'll actually carry forward is learning to take feedback and run with it, instead of getting precious about my first idea.
